Prana in Paradise: Waking the Wild Woman

Prana in Paradise

Experience the deep dive into the core of our bodies and the core of our knowledge. Awake your Wild Woman within, surrounded by other women, and by Mother Nature herself, where fresh waters and lush Brazilian rainforest meet the sea.

Awaken your personal sense of belonging, learn how to establish your territory and find your pack. Know what it feels like to be in your body with certainty and pride, to speak and act on your own behalf. Find out how to draw on the innate feminine powers of intuition and sensing, in order to connect with your cycles and find belonging within your own being.

“A healthy woman is much like a wolf: robust, chock-full, strong life force, life-giving, territorially aware, inventive, loyal, roving. Yet separation from the wild nature causes a woman’s personality to become meager, thin, ghost, spectral. We are not meant to be puny…it is time for the wild woman to emerge.”

The Butterfly House

The Butterfly House is one of the chicest eco-resorts in northern Brazil. Located on the Maraú Peninsula, the Butterfly House is surrounded by pristine beaches, freshwater lakes and a World Heritage-listed rain forest. It is the ideal place to find your peace, deepen your practice and relax into yourself.

Butterfly Lodge’s luxurious bungalows, carved out of nature, offer unrivaled comfort and privacy in one of the wildest parts of Brazil. For those seeking luxury and adventure in equal measure, look no further.

Every inch of Butterfly House celebrates nature and honors the natural environment. Thanks to intelligent architecture and incredible attention to detail, the main lodge and guest villas blend seamlessly into the jungle. This camouflage effect is largely thanks to the materials used – all of which are sourced locally and ethically. Thatched grass roofs, eco-treated bamboo and salvaged 300-year old Brazil nut wood make up the foundations of the resort, and just as the exteriors reflect the rawness of the jungle, the interiors are a blend of warmth and luxury. Sprinkled with antique French ceramics, homespun Moroccan rugs and whimsical Indian objects d’art picked up by the owners on their wayward travels, each of the villas has its own distinct look. Throw in an impressive collection of Brazilian modern art, and guests are certain to feel at home no matter where they are from.

Peninsula of Maraú, Bahia, Brazil

According to Condé Nast Traveler, “Bahia is the most glamourous state in Brazil…it is uncharted territory, its best beaches and places to stay still well-kept secrets, hidden gems amid tropical greenery.”

The Maraú Peninsula in Bahia has sheltered bay and outlying cluster of islands that simply beg to be explored by boat. Local beaches are magnificent and the surf is second to none. For water-lovers, there are exotic coral reefs, deep natural pools and freshwater lakes to enjoy. On land, the jungle surrounding the lodge teems with exotic wildlife (marmosets, anteaters and armadillos are common sightings) and rare species of plants are in abundance. Dozens of nature trails start from the lodge and experts are on hand 24/7 to explain all there is to know about the region’s diverse flora and fauna.

Kimberly Ann Johnson

Kimberly has been practicing yoga for 20 years and teaching for the past 14. The path of yoga now so intricately woven into her identity, that she says she no longer teaches, as much as overts philosophy, preferring to guide people through the wondrous somatic journey of self-discovery and self-expression with precision. She has studied with the three main masters of the Krishnamacharya lineage: Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, BKS Iyengar and Desikachar, and has made several pilgrimages to India. The most potent of her trips was a three-month stay at the Ramana Maharshi ashram, where she worked one-on-one with her guru in a period of intense meditation and chanting.

Kimberly’s yoga classes are focused, intense, and impeccably sequenced to floss the nervous system, create structural balance and experience Big Mind. She is interested in creating intimacy within ourselves and with others through practice. Currently, she is diving deeply into the world of the Divine Feminine and what being a woman has to do with yoga practice.

Food + Dining

We believe that how you feed your bodies is as much of a part of a yogic life as breathing. Food should be prepared with love and care, from the freshest, most un-altered ingredients possible, so that every bite can be savoured with pleasure. Being in Brazil makes the culinary experience even richer. There’s delicious fruit everywhere, unrivaled raw juices, fresh-baked breads and jams home-made from organic produce. There coconut water comes from the coconut tree, not a box, and the seafood is straight from fisherman’s net. Every meal on a Yoga Body Rio Curated Retreat is carefully prepared from organic or locally sourced ingredients, fusing traditional dishes with gastronomic knowledge from around the world.

Menus are adaptable to almost all dietary restrictions.
